Marylebone area guide
Located only a five minute stroll from the buzzing crowds of Oxford Street, quirky and affluent Marylebone is a genteel area packed with fine restaurants, boutique shops and cute delicatessens. Leafy and suburban, it’s a far cry from the packed shopping streets nearby, and despite plenty of development over the years it has still kept its true historical charm. This is perhaps considered due to the fact that a large proportion of Marylebone to this day is owned by several aristocratic estates whose position has meant that any new building work is in keeping with the area. The result is a a quaint, relaxed atmosphere that you might expect from such a central London location.
Transport options into and around Marylebone are many and varied. On its borders are the underground stations of Great Portland Street, Oxford Street and Baker Street, which between them cover seven different tube lines including Central, Victoria, and Bakerloo. The area is also served by various buses during the day and night.
